About this venue
Puppentheater Plappermaul grew from a family puppet stage started in 1999 and has been a non-profit association since 2008. It plays traditional hand-puppet theatre in a contemporary form, with self-written Kasper adventures and other children's pieces staged in elaborate three-dimensional sets, aimed mainly at children of about three to eight and their families. In its early years the company played in schools, nurseries and parish halls around the region before settling in Pfaffengrund.
Its theatre hall on Steinhofweg in Pfaffengrund has unnumbered bench seating, children in front and adults behind (about 70 seats per the regional tourism listing), a ventilation system installed in 2020/21 and a covered waiting area outside. The theatre is on the ground floor and step-free; wheelchair places are available when booked in advance. Visitors are asked to park at the Gesellschaftshaus car park (Schwalbenweg 1/2), about 350 m away; bus 36 stops at Im Dornbusch. The 2026/27 season opened on 10 October 2026.
