About this venue
Salford Lads' Club is a recreational club on the corner of Coronation Street and St Ignatius Walk in Ordsall, Salford, opened in 1903 as a boys' club and still run for the community today, now welcoming members of both sexes and trading as Salford Lads and Girls Club. It became internationally known after The Smiths were photographed outside its doorway for the inner sleeve of The Queen Is Dead in 1986. Alongside sport and youth work it organises concerts, exhibitions and cultural events, and its Edwardian halls are hired out for fundraising concerts and live music, book signings, corporate conferences and weddings.
