About this venue
Snillet Gård sits about 20 minutes from Trondheim at Byneset, and has been in the Berg family since the 1600s. It is run today by Anders Berg. There is no longer livestock and the land is let to other farmers on Byneset; instead the whole barn has been converted, and the farm now lets rooms to a nursery, offices for businesses, and function, course and conference spaces.
Storsalen, the main hall, occupies part of the barn and is clad in wilderness panelling from Ertvågøya at Aure; the old barn bridge is kept as part of the room and gives it its rural character. There is a stage and a bar at one end. The hall takes 120 in a cinema layout or about 80 seated at table for a function, with ten round tables — popular for making the setting more sociable — and long tables in two sizes. There is crockery and tableware for over 100 people, with cloths and napkins available to hire.
The farm has good experience of cultural events in Storsalen and has hosted artists across a range of genres over several years, as well as weddings, baptisms, milestone birthdays, courses, seminars and annual meetings.
Facilities include a serving kitchen, a licensed bar with an alcohol licence, a card terminal, a dance floor, a projector and screen, a PA, free wifi and free parking. For concerts, a bartender and serving staff are included. There is a lift, an accessible toilet, baby-changing facilities, high chairs, and the hall is set up for wheelchair users; prams are allowed in the room. Outside there is a large car park that guests have previously used for marquees and outdoor weddings, and an outdoor bar available at extra cost.
Hirers take the room with its facilities and are free to bring their own drinks and choose their own caterer — the farm has no tied catering agreements. It is closed during the common Norwegian summer holiday. Bookings are open for 2027.
