About this venue
The SNP dome is the city's large sports hall at Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Ring 16 in Heidelberg-Kirchheim, in operation since 2021. It was built because no hall in the city could take sports events with more than 1,500 spectators. It serves school and club sport on 260 days a year and hosts the basketball team MLP Academics Heidelberg and Rhein-Neckar Löwen handball matches; its interior is designed to be flexible so that cultural events can also take place.
Telescopic stands allow playing areas of different sizes: for basketball there are 2,884 seats and 2,116 standing places (5,000 in all), for handball 2,658 seats and 1,476 standing places. The arena floor covers up to 1,800 sq m depending on the stands, and is let for stage events, company events, fairs and sport. Hospitality includes a business club for 250 guests, six boxes and 140 business seats, with kiosks and catering areas. The hall was built and is run by BSG, a subsidiary of the city housing company GGH; events are managed by Heidelberger Kultur- und Kongressgesellschaft (HKK). The naming rights belong to the software company SNP for ten years from 2020.
Access: 16 wheelchair places on level 0 with a free seat for a companion, accessible toilets on level 0, step-free kiosks, and parking for disabled visitors in the adjoining hip car park (671 spaces).
