About this venue

Spor 5 is a culture venue on Jernbaneveien beside Stavanger railway station, run by Stavanger Jazzforum as its home stage and used through the year for a wide range of art and cultural events as well as meetings, conferences and seminars. The jazz forum's ambition is that it should be an open house and an important culture stage in the heart of Stavanger — and, given that every train and most buses stop outside and parking is plentiful, arguably the city's most centrally placed stage. The room is flexible, working from 20 to 30 people upwards and comfortably from 40 to 50, with a capacity of 200 seated in rows or 250 standing. It is equipped with a PA and lighting rig, a Steinway model B grand piano, a well-stocked backline, and a bar with an alcohol licence. The programme runs from jazz — the CIMOTA season opener with a commissioned work, a big band series with Dalane storband and Equinor storband — to literary events. Evenings are given over to cultural activity first, but the room can be hired for other kinds of event when free. Stavanger Jazzforum also runs the Maijazz festival.
