St. Croix huset is Fredrikstad's "cultural common room" — a 2,500 m² former school building in the city centre with four stages, twelve activity rooms and a vegetarian café.

About this venue
St. Croix huset opened in 1991 in a converted former school building in downtown Fredrikstad, inspired by 1970s Danish community-house models, and describes itself as "byens kulturelle fellesstue" (the city's cultural common room). The 2,500 square metre building contains 12 activity rooms, a vegetarian café and four performance stages. Main halls are wheelchair-accessible with elevator service, though Room 8, the Atelier and Backstage have limited wheelchair access. Programming spans vegetarian buffets, concerts, theatre productions, courses and children's activities, drawing families, youth, students and retirees.
