About this venue

Studenthuset Rokken is the student house in Volda, in Industrigata next to Høgskulen i Volda, run by and for students since 2005. Rokken Scene is its concert room, with a capacity of 550, and the house also runs meeting rooms that can be booked. The programme is a steady mix of concerts, club nights and student events — recent and upcoming bookings include Cir.Cuz, Sløtface, Sirkus Eliassen, TØFL, Ari Bajgora, silent discos, stand-up and the Fri Flyt film tour. Rokken is the home of VEKA, the student festival, which turns 40 this year. The stage is 8 m wide by 4.5 m deep at 0.6 m above the floor, with 5 m to the ceiling and side stages of 2 m stage right and 1 m stage left. The mixing position sits 6.5 m from the stage edge, centred. Power is 400 V with 2 × 32 A, and 230 V with 1 × 80 A, 1 × 63 A and 4 × 16 A. Load-in is direct through a sloped ramp, with parking immediately at the loading point. Unless otherwise announced, concerts at Rokken are 18+ and ID is required. There is a general ban on photography and filming at all events unless cleared with the PR officer in advance. Note that the board of Studentsamskipnaden i Volda decided to wind up café operations at the student house from 1 October 2026; the concert venue itself continues.
