About this venue
Västmanlands Teater is the county's regional theatre, run as a municipal association, and plays in its own building at Slottsgatan 11 in Västerås, a house that visitors describe as Art Deco with many nooks, stairs and salons. It has three stages: the numbered Stora scen with 367 seats, the unnumbered Lilla scen with 104, and the Teaterbistron stage for 60 guests. The programme combines theatre premieres, soup theatre and children's theatre with Bistro Live evenings of music and stage nights, for example jazz in Swedish, a trio led by a multi-instrumentalist, poetry with a band and a no-script humour duo. The theatre also tours the county and runs a workshop at Ånghammargatan 4 in Bäckby and a section for organisers, amateur theatre and schools. The ticket office in the foyer opens on Tuesdays and 90 minutes before performances, and there is a step-free entrance to the left of the main entrance. No separate room-hire page was found on the site, so any hire of the stages would need to be asked about with the reception.
