About this venue
8 Northumberland Avenue is an events venue in The Grand, a Grade II-listed Victorian building three minutes' walk from Trafalgar Square. Built in 1887 as the Hotel Victoria and the first building in London to have electricity, it was requisitioned by the War Office in the 1940s and closed to the public for seventy years before a restoration reopened it in 2010. Its ballroom — described by English Heritage as the grandest surviving example of a Victorian ballroom — is used for gala dinners, awards ceremonies, conferences and filming, alongside the Old Billiard Room and Annex and a set of meeting rooms, which the venue does not publish capacities for.
