The Old Bell Hotel

The Old Bell Hotel at 51 Sadler Gate was established in 1650 and is one of Derby's last surviving coaching inns. It now operates as bars, a restaurant and an events venue in the Cathedral Quarter, hosting weddings, private parties, conferences, funeral wakes, shows and concerts, and it is available as a filming and photo-shoot location. When the building was put up for sale in 2021, its former hotel bedrooms were being used for storage and offices. The largest of its four function rooms is the Grand Regency Ballroom, built in the early 1900s and styled after the grand rooms of the Titanic, with its own bar and direct access to the historic courtyard. The Tudor Bar has an open fire and stained-glass windows and is not available for hire on Friday and Saturday evenings, when it is open to the public. The Campion Room on the second floor suits small meetings and connects to the Belfry Bar. A function room booklet with layouts and room sizes is available from the venue. The building opens Sunday to Thursday 12pm to 11pm and Friday and Saturday 12pm to 1.30am.
