About this venue

The Royal Pavilion is a cultural and visitor centre at the head of Southend Pier, the world's longest pleasure pier. The GBP 3 million building opened in July 2012, runs solely on wind power and sea-water heat pumps, and hosts a year-round programme of exhibitions, film screenings and live events in its large multi-purpose space. It won an RIBA East Award in 2013 and was formally renamed the Royal Pavilion later that year.
