About this venue

The Steam and Whistle occupies the former Midland Hotel on Gloucester Road, opposite Cheltenham's railway station. New owners revamped the building completely and launched a 300-capacity live music space in 2024. The venue has quickly become part of Gloucestershire's grassroots music scene. It hosts touring indie, folk and dance acts alongside renowned local bands, and headliners have included EMF. It runs a regular stage at Audio Junk Food's Cheltenham festival, Crosstown Traffic, and is home to Dom Joly's SpeakeaZy night. Recent and upcoming bills include Cud, Skinny Lister, The Ordinary Boys, Yetii, Alan Fletcher, and Whistle with Dub Catalyst.
