About this venue

Towneley Hall is a historic house and museum in Towneley Park, surrounded by over 400 acres of parkland in the heart of Burnley. Formerly the ancestral home of the Towneley family, it is now run as a museum and art gallery by Burnley Council with the Towneley Hall Preservation Trust, and hosts weddings, receptions and private functions in its period rooms. The medieval Great Hall serves as the ceremonial welcome and drinks-reception space, opening onto the Red and Green Regency Rooms for ceremonies and wedding breakfasts. The Hall can host from around 70 up to several hundred guests depending on room and marquee configuration. As of September 2026 new wedding enquiries are paused while restoration work on the building is completed; the venue continues to operate for museum visits in the meantime.
