About this venue

Tvibit calls itself a hub for culture and creative activity, working with young people aged 15 to 30 across music, film, media and the creative industries. It is a unit under the culture section of Tromsø kommune, and its house on Parkgata holds concert rooms, rehearsal rooms and studios, film and creative-technology facilities, a gaming room, project funding schemes, a youth health clinic and Kafé Kringla. Tvibit Scene is the main room, free to use for young musicians and artists and programmed for concerts, theatre, dance and stand-up. It takes 150 standing or 80 seated — 100 when no front-of-house position is needed. The stage is built from Nivtec decks, 8 metres wide at the back narrowing to 6 at the front, 4 metres deep and 40 centimetres high, and the room carries a full professional rig: an Alcons PA with RR12 arrays and BF362 subs a side, a Soundcraft Vi1 desk with a 48/16 stagebox, an Avolites Titan lighting console with 48 dimmer channels, LED pars, Source Four fresnels, Martin Atomic strobes and hazers, a deep microphone stock and a house backline of Gretsch and DW drums, an Ampeg SVT, Vox, Fender, Marshall and Orange guitar amps and Nord, Yamaha and Korg keyboards. Kringla Scene is the small stage in Kafé Kringla on the ground floor, holding around 70 seated and standing, with a 4 by 2 metre stage 50 centimetres high, Alcons VR8 tops, a Soundcraft Impact 32 desk and LED par and fresnel lighting. It is used for concerts, stand-up, Q&As, quizzes and small gatherings, and is free to hire. Downstairs and upstairs there are ten rehearsal rooms — including dedicated metal, jazz, drum and DJ rooms, the last with a pair of Pioneer CDJ 2000 NX2 — and four solo studios with iMacs running Logic Pro, monitors, microphones and MIDI keyboards. Both stages are strictly drug- and alcohol-free, and concerts with an audience are run in cooperation with Tvibit's own staff for safety and crowd management.

Café stage

The intimate stage inside Kafé Kringla on the ground floor, used for concerts, stand-up, Q&As, quizzes and small gatherings. Stage 4 m wide by 2 m deep, 50 cm high, with Alcons VR8 tops, a Soundcraft Impact 32 desk and LED par and fresnel lighting.
