About this venue

Every summer the Ulmer Zelt sets up between the Ausee lake and the Danube in the Friedrichsau as a small tent village with a blue and red round tent, a beer garden and a tent lounge. For seven weeks it presents hand-picked live culture, from rock, pop, indie and blues to cabaret, theatre and acrobatics, plus flea markets and around 20 events for children. The main tent holds up to 1,000 visitors, bringing audiences close to acts who usually play much larger venues; the festival is organised by a few full-time staff with around 100 volunteers and draws an average of 90,000 guests a season. The Ulmer Zelt is seasonal: its 38th season ended in summer 2026, and the next season runs from 19 May to 3 July 2027.
