About this venue

Vaktbua describes itself simply as a concert and club stage in Kristiansand. It sits in Bygg 3 at Odderøyveien 11 on Odderøya, the island of studios and cultural workspaces just south of the city centre. The room opens Fridays and Saturdays from 15:00 until 02:30, and on Thursdays and Sundays whenever there is a concert. Tickets are sold through Tikkio. The programme is unusually broad for a small room: Norwegian and Nordic post-metal and hardcore (Spurv, Beaten to Death, Drengskapur, Sagor Som Leder Mot Slutet), American country and roots (Joshua Ray Walker, Bob Wayne, Todd Day Wait), jazz — including dates during Kristiansand Jazzfestival — reggae sound systems, Latin nights, soul evenings and a steady run of DJ club nights from local and visiting selectors.
