About this venue

Victoriateatern is a theatre building on Södra Förstadsgatan in Malmö, opened on 9 September 1912 as Biografteatern Victoria, then Malmö's largest premiere cinema with 500 seats. It was cut down to 393 seats in 1936, housed revue theatre in the 1940s and was a cinema until 31 March 1974; in 1975 local culture groups formed the Victoriakommittén to take over the house. Today it is a concert venue run by the association Kulturföreningen Kontrast på Victoria. The autumn 2026 programme includes the Bill Stewart Trio with Larry Grenadier and Walter Smith III, the klezmer band A Night At Sailor Bar at a Victoria dansar! dance night, and Langendorf United, plus a concert by The Bulgarian Voices Angelite held in S:t Johannes kyrka. Most concerts have two sets of 40-50 minutes with a 20-minute break; doors usually open at 19:00 or 20:00 for evenings. Tickets are sold through Kulturcentralen next door at Södra Förstadsgatan 18 A and unsold tickets go on sale at the door. The hall is wheelchair accessible with an adapted toilet, a hearing loop is available on request, and the cloakroom is supervised and free. Load-in is through the main entrance (C).
