West Princes Street Gardens is the Victorian public park below Edinburgh Castle, between Princes Street and the Mound, owned and managed by the City of Edinburgh Council. It is one of the city's principal outdoor event sites, used for Edinburgh's Christmas, the Hogmanay Concert in the Gardens, Edinburgh International Festival events and the closing fireworks concert.
At its centre is the Ross Bandstand, an open-air stage seating around 2,500 in front of the castle, used for everything from ceilidh and world music to gigs by Edinburgh bands. The Council caps major events using the bandstand and surrounding gardens at four per year, and event hire runs through Parks & Open Spaces with a rental fee set by scale and impact.
