About this venue
The Wilhelmsburg (Werk XII) on the Michelsberg is being made a lively part of the city again through lasting use. The annual multi-week "Stürmt die Burg" festival, whose ninth edition ran over three weekends from 23 July to 9 August 2026 with free admission, fills the courtyard with concerts for all ages and a family programme, and Theater Ulm's summer theatre has also played in the courtyard. The Open Tower project turns the Kehlturm into studios, workshops and exhibition spaces with a rooftop bar, and the autumn 2026 programme includes Open Tower Sessions and a Halloween rave in the Flankenturm.
The site is let for celebrations and conferences through its managing company, Sanierungstreuhand Ulm GmbH. The enclosed 13,000 m² courtyard, reached through two large gateways, takes corporate and cultural events with up to 3,600 people, with or without tents. Indoor options include the round vaulted Flankenturm (239 m², parties up to 200), several meeting rooms in the converted east wing with a lift and step-free access from the courtyard, a foyer and the Kehlturm terrace.
