From Conversation to Code: Automating Solid Team Structure with Task Templates
In this instalment of the Under The Hood series, we are picking out some of the gems that arise from the Crescat community to become fully-fledged features for all of our users. This is the “From Conversation to Code” instalment - shining a light on exactly what happens with a user suggestion.
The Users: SALT / Svømmehallen Scene
The Spark: For organisers like SALT and Svømmehallen Scene, replicating their team structure and accountability in the system is key.
The Conversation: Both of these users expressed a desire to see task automation that respected their established workflows. So that when they created a new event, they could ensure that every stakeholder was accountable in the system.
The Evolution: With the recent rollout of the Tasks feature, we could clearly see how useful it would be to create automated tasks once events were created. We reviewed the requirements to add such a feature and could see it was a natural fit for our Event Types templating experience. Since Tasks is available to all users, we decided to make this enhancement a usable part of the system for all users.
The Result: With Task Templates, we have added the ability for users to create groups of tasks and pre-define who should be assigned to the task and its visibility on an event. That way, users can set up customised task workflows, integrate them in to their Event Types and fully automate the creation, assignment and management of tasks when a new event is created.
