Castle Bar (Castle Hotel)

Castle Bar is the ground-floor bar of the Castle Hotel on South Road, Aberystwyth, close to South Marine Terrace, the harbour and the castle grounds. The building is an impressive brick and terracotta pub built in 1910 for the local Roberts brewery; inside it has been opened up into a single airy room, with large etched windows that still name the original areas such as the Luncheon Room and two iron pillars at the bar. It is a friendly local bar with live music, a wide selection of board games, Welsh products including Penderyn whisky, and over 40 gins. It opens from mid-afternoon until the early hours. The hotel above has nine individually styled rooms.
