About this venue

Energimølla is the music and culture house for Kongsberg, in an old mill built in 1890 of rustic brick. It opened as a venue on 26 October 2002 and is run as a foundation with six staff plus volunteers. The programme runs to around 130 events a year and draws roughly 16,000 visitors, deliberately spread across genres and across the year: rock, pop, metal and hip hop concerts, theatre, film, children's and youth events, monthly pop, pub and student quizzes, and jazz cafés. It is one of the main stages of Kongsberg Jazzfestival, which uses it both for daytime concerts — described by the festival as catchy and challenging jazz alike — and for late-night club sets of progressive jazz and Afrobeat. The whole ground floor is wheelchair accessible, with an accessible toilet downstairs. The house is open only in connection with events and concerts, and hires out for meetings, mingling events, summer parties and Christmas dinners.
