The Hare & Hounds is a Grade II listed pub in Kings Heath, built in 1820 and remodelled in 1907, retaining much of its original Art Nouveau interior. It's best known as the site of UB40's first-ever gig in 1979, commemorated with a PRS for Music Heritage Award plaque in 2011, and has since hosted Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, Basement Jaxx, George Ezra, Loyle Carner and Angel Olsen. The venue won Best Live Entertainment at the Great British Pub Awards in 2016. Its two rooms run a mixed programme of live music, club nights and comedy through the week, alongside the weekly Made in Birmingham local talent showcase.
