Kongsberg Musikkteater

About this venue

Kongsberg Musikkteater occupies two halls inside Krona, the knowledge and culture centre at Hasbergs vei 36 in Kongsberg, and is run by Kongsberg municipality. It sets out to be a working arena for local culture and community life as much as a room for national and international touring productions, and it is one of the main indoor stages of Kongsberg Jazzfestival, which has been running since 1964. Musikkteateret, the main hall, seats 604 in the amphitheatre and converts to a flat floor with standing room for 1,200, plus 150 seats on the balcony; laid out for a conference it takes up to 300. It is dimensioned for large events and conferences as well as concerts, carries current stage technology, and has a Steinway Model D concert grand. Sølvsalen is the smaller room, with 135 seats in an amphitheatre that can be struck to make a black box. It has modern sound, lighting and AV, and a Yamaha S6 grand piano.
