Lulworth Castle

Lulworth Castle was built in the 17th century as a hunting lodge for entertaining aristocracy and royalty, and was for centuries the family seat of the Weld family, who still own the Lulworth Estate. Destroyed by fire in 1929, it has been partly restored in partnership with English Heritage. It stands in extensive parkland near the Jurassic Coast, close to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. The castle is let exclusively for weddings. Civil and humanist ceremonies and blessings can be held in the Saloon (up to 100 guests), the Dining Room (up to 130), or outside in the courtyard, woodland or gardens; religious ceremonies can be held in the 18th-century St Mary's Chapel or St Andrew's Church nearby. Receptions of up to 130 guests are catered by the estate's two partner caterers, and the estate offers guest accommodation from cottages to camping. The estate also has an events team. The castle and park are open to visitors for most of the year, closing for winter from Christmas Eve to the end of January. They host a seasonal programme that has included outdoor cinema weekends, talks, workshops, yoga, half-term family events and Christmas displays. The castle has a tearoom.
