About this venue

Rockefeller opened in 1986 in Torggata Bad, a historic public bathhouse in central Oslo, and has been one of Norway's leading concert halls ever since. Its public entrance is in Mariboes gate 5B and the room holds 1,300 — standing only unless a particular show is announced otherwise, in which case a limited number of unnumbered seats are released on a first-come basis. The house is operated by Auditorium AS, which also runs John Dee in the basement of the same building (500, entrance Mariboes gate 5A), Sentrum Scene across the street (1,750) and Leiligheten with its roof terrace on top of Rockefeller (140). Between them they present a heavy year-round programme of Norwegian and international concerts and cultural events, and are also hired out for private functions, meetings and seminars. Doors normally open at 19:00, support goes on around an hour later and the headliner roughly an hour after that; most concerts run 90–120 minutes. The venue is licensed to stay open until 03:30 with the bar closing at 03:00, though most events finish earlier. Tickets are sold through Ticketmaster. Most events are 18+, some 20+, with physical ID checked for anyone who looks under 25 and no guardian scheme. There is a staffed cloakroom for most of the winter season at 60 NOK a garment, a photo ban on cameras (phone photography is generally allowed without flash), and no on-site parking — the nearest accessible bays are in Badstugata between Torggata and Mariboes gate. Wheelchair users enter through the normal public entrance with assistance from the house security up the ramp, or by lift if arranged in advance. For fire-safety reasons wheelchairs are not allowed on the galleries; a limited number of manual wheelchairs can use a raised platform on the left of the hall, reached by a mobile ramp, while powered chairs are placed in front of the stage. There are two accessible toilets, one in the Loungebar to the right of the stage and one under the stairs in the main hall.
