About this venue

The Vale of Rheidol Railway is a heritage narrow-gauge steam railway that runs from its station on Park Avenue in Aberystwyth up the Rheidol valley to Devil's Bridge, a journey of about two hours and 45 minutes in first class. Public services run daily in season (until 1 November in 2026), with seasonal specials such as its Christmas trains. The Aberystwyth station also houses the Engine Shed Museum, a collection of historic narrow-gauge locomotives and rolling stock, plus a shop and food and drink. For events, groups can reserve carriages on timetabled trains, and the railway offers private charter trains on dates outside the public timetable by arrangement.
