About this venue

The Villa calls itself an underground club sanctuary in central Oslo, built around electronic music and dance culture with an emphasis on quality sound, quality music and state-of-the-art light design. The room runs Funktion One speakers in what the club describes as impeccable acoustics, and the lighting was designed by Roomdivision, the firm behind the rigs at Panorama Bar, Watergate and Arena Club in Berlin. The club has drawn international notice: DJ Mag ranked it the 54th best club in the world in 2009, Resident Advisor placed it among the world's top 100 clubs in 2008, and The Guardian named it one of the 25 best clubs in Europe in 2014. The programme is weekend-based and built on visiting and local DJs — DJ Hell, Objekt, Sam Girling, Kasper Marrot, Bjørn Torske, Finnebassen and Øyvind Morken among recent bookings, with the Sweat Shop nights running alongside. The house also publishes The Villa Unplugged, its own DJ mix podcast.
