About this venue
The Alemannische Bühne Freiburg is a dialect theatre in the old town on Gerberau, run by the Alemannische Bühne e.V. It traces its history to 1924, when Alsatians living in Freiburg founded the 'Elsässische Theater im Breisgau' as an amateur dialect stage; after 1950 it continued as the Alemannische Heimatbühne, first as a touring company across South Baden. In 2026 it marks 102 years.
The programme centres on comedies in Alemannic dialect, such as 'E Loch in de Wand', which runs until 30 January 2027, alongside productions for children and young people and variety evenings with music, singing, cabaret, singer-songwriters and magic. Tickets are sold through Reservix; the office is usually reachable by phone on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Seating capacity is not published.
