About this venue
ArTik is a non-commercial platform for young people's art, culture and projects, run by the non-profit ArTik e.V. on Haslacher Straße between the Stühlinger and Haslach districts. Besides lending rooms and support to youth groups and initiatives and running its own education projects, it is known as a night-culture venue in Freiburg.
Its event space, the Freizeichen, has an auditorium with a large stage, PA, lighting rig and projector that holds over 300 people for concerts and parties or up to 130 seated for theatre and talks. A bar links the auditorium to the Empore, a small gallery floor above the bar used as a second floor, workshop room or artists' retreat. The auditorium and bar are step-free with an accessible toilet, and the shared courtyard is used for summer events. The programme is dominated by metal, hardcore and heavy rock concerts and DJ nights, alongside an English-language comedy series and party nights. Private events such as weddings or birthdays are not accepted; event proposals need about six months' notice.
