About this venue

Åsane kulturhus opened as the district cultural centre for Åsane, north of central Bergen, after a long local campaign. It is run by Bergen kommune's culture department and covers around 4,000 m². The main hall is built around telescopic seating: 485 seats across 13 rows when extended, or room for 910 standing when the stands are retracted, with a further 102 seats in the balcony. That flexibility lets the same room work for seated theatre and concerts and for standing club shows. The building also houses Åsane bibliotek, the Arna and Åsane culture office, culture and activity rooms and a cafeteria, and gives space to a wide range of amateur and professional cultural activity. Rooms are booked through the municipality's Aktiv kommune system. Voluntary organisations and associations registered under code 7000 in the volunteer register hire the rooms free of charge, though that covers room hire only and not event technical services.
