About this venue
BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art occupies a converted 1950s Rank Hovis flour mill on the Gateshead bank of the Tyne, facing Newcastle Quayside across the Millennium Bridge. It opened in 2002 and shows contemporary art across several floors of minimalist gallery space, with free entry.
Alongside its exhibitions programme the building runs occasional live music, performance and film events, and hires out its galleries, cinema rooms and river-facing viewing boxes for corporate events, weddings and dining. Capacities are published only in a downloadable hires pack rather than on the site itself.
