About this venue

Buen kulturhus stands on Havnegata in Mandal and gathers the town's library, art gallery, cinemas, culture school and performance stages in one building, with a café and an outdoor play area. Storsalen is the main hall: 450 m² plus a side stage of around 110 m², taking anywhere from 360 to 800 people depending on how the room is set and how much of it the staging takes. It handles concerts, theatre, dance and conferences, with amphitheatre seating that can be configured to the event and its own bar. Klubbscenen is the second room — 190 m² plus a 60 m² bar area, holding 150 to 400 — built with flexible setup and good acoustics for concerts, theatre, dance, stand-up and conferences. The cinema hall seats 110 across 160 m², the Elvesal takes 70 to 100 in 120 m², and the foyer runs to 700 m² over two levels. The stages are equipped with sound and lighting to a high standard throughout, and the building was designed so several productions can run in parallel. Hearing loops are installed in the cinema hall, Storsalen and Klubbscenen, and the building is wheelchair accessible. Parking nearby is charged 08:00-17:00 on weekdays and 08:00-15:00 on Saturdays. Riksteatret uses the house as its Mandal stage.
