About this venue
The Capitol Theater Offenbach occupies the former Offenbach synagogue, a neoclassical complex with a 30-metre dome built in 1913–1916 to plans by Fritz Schwarz and Karl Wagner. After the 1938 pogrom it became a cinema and later the city's guest-performance theatre; following a musical era in the 1990s it reopened in 1998 as the multi-purpose Capitol, and has been run since 2002 as a venue for companies, associations, comedians, musicians and other artists, hosting events for up to 1,800 people.
Today the house programmes rock and pop concerts, classical music (the Capitol Classic Lounge series since 2006 and the Capitol Symphonie Lounge), comedy, shows and theatre on its full stage, and is hired for conferences, galas, product presentations and livestream or hybrid events. It is part of the Stadtwerke Offenbach events division, with the Stadthalle Offenbach as its partner house. Guests enter from Goethestraße 1-5; the office and deliveries are at Kaiserstraße 106. Tickets are sold by the promoters and public outlets, not by the house.
