This swanky art deco vaudeville theater turned movie palace was opened by a Chicago rum runner during prohibition as a classic speakeasy. From a 19 year old Liberace being the house pianist in the 1940s to a Vegas style supper club cabaret in the 1950s to legendary go-go dancer Gigi in the 1960s to being the first gay bar in Western Wisconsin in the 1970s and 80s, the Cavalier has had many lives before the current owner bought it and revived some life into it in 2010 converting it into a live music venue in a tertiary college town market
