An eight-screen CGR multiplex at the La Sucrerie retail park on the northern edge of Abbeville, opened in December 2017 with 1,175 seats across its auditoriums. All eight halls and the entrance foyer are hired out for conferences, seminars, private screenings and corporate events alongside the daily film programme.

About this venue

CGR Abbeville - La Sucrerie is the town's mainstream cinema, run by SARL Abbeville Ciné as part of the national CGR Cinémas circuit. It opened on 13 December 2017 as the anchor of the 9,500 m² La Sucrerie retail centre developed by Immo Mousquetaires on the northern edge of Abbeville, and took over from the Rex, which closed the same month after some forty years in the town centre. The building holds eight auditoriums seating 1,175 in total: Salle 1 with 465 seats behind an 18-metre Scope screen, then halls of 134, 112, 97, 96, 91, 90 and 90 seats. The operator lists the house as equipped for ICE and Infinity Vision presentation, 3D, 4K and HFR projection and 7.1 sound, with audio-described and French-subtitled screenings programmed alongside original-version and dubbed shows. Salle 8 was fitted with LightVibes when the cinema opened. Around forty to fifty screenings run daily from late morning to about 22:30, and the cinema shares the retail park's free 700-space car park. Every auditorium is also available for hire — conferences, seminars, videoconferences, product launches, private screenings, concerts and birthday parties — with the entrance hall used as a reception and cocktail space for up to 150 standing. Catering is not imposed and outside caterers are accepted; dancing is not permitted. Hire starts at around €300 and rates are quoted on request.
