About this venue
Croydon Road Recreation Ground is a Beckenham park with a cafe, bandstand, bowling green, paddling pool and other sports facilities, laid out in 1890 and opened in 1891. Its Grade II listed bandstand (1905) was where David Bowie helped organise and played the 1969 Growth Summer Festival — the event later commemorated by 2013's "Memory of a Free Festival" and part of why the bandstand was listed in 2019.
