About this venue
Darlington Community Theatre (DCT) is a registered charity (no. 1205058), created in 2023 to establish and run a community theatre in Darlington and the surrounding area, and to give people hands-on experience of acting, singing, dancing and backstage work such as lighting, sound and set building. Its theatre is at 195-199 Northgate.
The main theatre is laid out in thrust style, with raised seating on three sides of a 13m x 10m performance area, and holds 161, with more possible using floor seating. Dressing rooms and a green room are included with theatre hire, lighting and sound are available in hire packages, and sound and lighting operators can be provided. There is also a lounge for parties and other events, and the stage area can be hired on its own. Wheelchair spaces are available.
The programme includes pantomime, dance school and performing-arts showcases, college productions and social nights such as quizzes, family discos and karaoke. Hire enquiries through the online form or by email.
