Regensburger Figurentheater im Stadtpark

The Regensburger Figurentheater im Stadtpark is a professional marionette theatre that plays in a small Rococo house in the middle of the Stadtpark, between the Café unter den Linden and the Kunstforum Ostdeutsche Galerie. The company was founded in 1980 and moved into its own house in the park five years later, after a unanimous city council decision; it describes it as the first and so far only permanent venue for a professional marionette theatre in Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate. A puppet theatre had already been granted a site in the park in 1913. The repertoire spans fairy tales, plays with music, musicals and children's-book adaptations in the weekend afternoon programme, plays in English, and an evening programme for adults, such as the Bavarian classic Der Brandner und der Boandlkramer as a marionette play. On weekdays, shows can be booked as special performances for schools and kindergartens. The autumn/winter 2026 season opened on 21 October 2026.
