Future Yard is a community-owned grassroots music venue in Birkenhead, run by Future Yard CIC. It programmes live music most nights alongside artist development work, live-industry training and a bar, and is at 75 Argyle Street, having started out on Conway Street.
The building is a bar and coffee shop, a live room, rehearsal studios and a garden, all on the ground floor with step-free access. The live room has a full stage with house PA and lighting. The bar serves all day whether or not there is a show, the in-house kitchen is fully vegetarian and vegan with gluten-free options, and the premises are cashless. The venue is open seven days a week, generally 10am to 11pm, to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Hire runs on four routes: the main event space takes parties of up to 250 with a basic furniture package and in-house catering; weddings are catered as sit-down meals for up to 80 or parties up to 250; the live room and a newer workshop space are let for meetings, away days, small conferences, exhibitions and location shoots, with a projector and screen included in every hire; and the live room is available to external promoters for gigs and video shoots. The operator describes the venue overall as a 280-capacity space. A "600-capacity venue" figure appears on the Build Our Future fundraising page - that is the planned expanded venue, not the room as it stands.
