About this venue
The Gillian Lynne Theatre stands on Drury Lane in Covent Garden. It opened in 1973 as the New London Theatre and was renamed in 2018 for the choreographer Gillian Lynne — the first West End theatre named after a non-royal woman. It is part of the LW Theatres group.
The auditorium seats 1,118 over two levels and is unusual in the West End: the stage is a thrust, and a large section of the auditorium floor revolves, a feature built for the original production of Cats, which ran here for twenty-one years.
