Greyfriars Kirk
About this venue
Founded in 1620, Greyfriars Kirk stands on Greyfriars Place in Edinburgh's Old Town and is a working church that also operates as a concert venue, valued for its acoustic. It regularly hosts orchestral and choral concerts, organ recitals and recordings, and has accommodated combined choirs and orchestras of around 150 performers.
Groups that have performed or recorded there include The Sixteen, the Dunedin Consort, the Edinburgh Symphony Orchestra, the SCO Chorus, Edinburgh University Symphony Orchestra and Delphian Records. The Kirk is normally hired as a venue-only facility, with the organiser handling ticketing, and it is also an Edinburgh Festival Fringe venue. Facilities include several stage layouts and a Loxone smart lighting system.
