About this venue

Hanley Park is an urban park in Stoke-on-Trent, officially opened on 20 June 1897 and covering about 63 acres. It was laid out by the landscape architect Thomas Hayton Mawson, with a terracotta-detailed pavilion by Dan Gibson, a bandstand between the pavilion and the Caldon Canal, which crosses the park, and a lake at its southwest end. It is listed Grade II* in Historic England's Register of Parks and Gardens and received a Green Flag Award in 2023. Stoke-on-Trent City Council lets the park for outdoor events through its Venues and Events Team. Organisers submit an online event enquiry and provide an event plan, risk assessment, site plan and public liability insurance. Notice periods run from two months for events under 500 people to six months for events over 10,000. The council's published fee table includes bandstand hire and hourly hire of the community hub in Hanley Park. The park holds a premises licence for events, and festivals and community events such as Stoke-on-Trent Pride have been licensed there.
