About this venue
His Majesty's Theatre stands on the Haymarket in the City of Westminster. The present building was designed by Charles J. Phipps and completed in 1897 for the actor-manager Herbert Beerbohm Tree, who founded what became the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art at the theatre.
It seats 1,216 behind a wide proscenium, suited to large-scale musicals, and has been the home of The Phantom of the Opera since 1986. Owned by LW Theatres since 2000, it was renamed from Her Majesty's Theatre to His Majesty's Theatre on 6 May 2023, following the accession of Charles III.
