Hochschule für Musik Freiburg

The Hochschule für Musik Freiburg is the city's state university of music. Its main building on Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Platz (formerly Schwarzwaldstraße 141; the address changed in December 2021) is served directly by the Musikhochschule tram stop on line 1. The main building contains several performance spaces used for public events: the Wolfgang-Hoffmann-Saal, the Kammermusiksaal, the Mathilde-Schwarz-Saal, the Kleiner Saal, the Rhythmiksaal and the Senatssaal, plus recording studios. The calendar is busy with student recitals, class concerts, concert exam performances and visiting events, many with free entry; in October 2026, for example, it included an ensemble-singing evening in the Kleiner Saal and a Live Music Now benefit concert in the Kammermusiksaal. Hall capacities are not published on the pages read during this audit.
