About this venue
A cultural venue on Stanhope Street in South Shields, opened in August 2025 by the non-profit Tyne and Wear Creative Culture CIC in the former Tinkersmiths and Boilershop buildings - once the 18th-century Royal Assembly Halls, later a picture house and nightclub. It programmes live music, comedy and theatre, and The Loft, a small-stage performance and workshop space, is offered free to community groups, charities and CICs.
