JES – Junges Ensemble Stuttgart

The Junges Ensemble Stuttgart (JES) has been Stuttgart's city- and state-funded theatre for children and young people since 2004. On three stages in the Kulturareal unterm Turm, its professional ensemble creates five to six new productions each year about the lives of young people, ranging from classic storytelling theatre to dance theatre, performative forms, theatre for the very young and participatory projects in which teenagers and professionals share the stage. Many pieces are developed by the director and ensemble during rehearsals. JES tours regularly to national and international festivals and every two years hosts the international children's and youth theatre festival SCHÖNE AUSSICHT. Its large theatre-education department runs play clubs for all ages, whose productions are part of the programme, along with workshops and training. The theatre bar opens an hour before performances and afterwards.
