Josefine Vertshus

Josefine Vertshus has stood in Josefines gate in Homansbyen since 1979 and has served as one of Oslo's steadier small live rooms across three floors, taking private functions — weddings, confirmations, birthdays, anniversaries, company events, sports banquets, author evenings, exhibitions and festivals — alongside its public programme. Many performers began their careers on its stage. The week has a fixed shape. Tuesdays are the jam, doors at 19:00 and playing from 20:00 to 23:30, with a house band anyone may join; the cover is 150 kr, 75 kr for students and 60 kr for musicians. Wednesdays belong to Josefine Visescene, the city's folk-song club, which has run there for more than thirty years and brings new concerts each week. Thursdays are Reis deg komikerklubb, a stand-up club night, doors at 18:00 and show from 20:00. There is a quiz once a month, and each December the house fills for Christmas dinners and Christmas concerts. The kitchen is open every day there is something on the stage, serving pizza and light dishes. IMPORTANT: the house has announced that it will close on 1 December 2026, after 47 years. Its owners cite changed conditions for a business combining a cultural programme with function rooms, and a tightening of its original opening hours by Bydel Frogner because of its location.
