About this venue
Kanteena occupies the former loading bay of Lancaster's Old Brewery, a c.1980 warehouse structure repurposed in 2019 into a 500m2 event space in the city's Canal Quarter. It combines a bar, street food traders and a concrete-floored central space furnished with reclaimed timber and repurposed materials.
The venue's own operating company went into creditors' voluntary liquidation in 2024, and the site faced demolition under redevelopment plans for the Canal Quarter; following public campaigning, Kanteena has continued trading into 2026 while the developers' wider plans proceed. Programming spans day raves, DJ sets, tribute acts and live gigs across electronic, rock and metal.
