About this venue

Kinoteatret sits on Rådhusplassen in the middle of Mo i Rana and is run by Rana municipality as Rana kino. It is a modern two-hall cinema with 459 seats in total; both halls have digital sound and projection, and the large hall is equipped for 3D. A kiosk in the foyer sells tickets and refreshments, and the house opens half an hour before the first screening. It is more than a cinema. The municipality calls it its most accessible cultural offering and a mainstay of what it provides for children and young people, and the building takes stage events as well as film — Kinoteatret co-produces with Tip-Toe Ballet Studio and hosts a range of other cultural performances through the year. The large cinema hall is hired out on Tuesdays and Thursdays at a day rate, with significant discounts for local organisations. Hirers can request a projector and ceiling screen, a basic sound system for speech and music, a microphone and stand, whiteboard and flip chart, a minijack input for a phone or laptop, stage elements to assemble themselves, and Wi-Fi. Rana kino also lets Storsalen at Mo Samfunnshus, a 350 m2 hall for 150 with tables or 180 in rows, with a kitchen attached. Bookings and enquiries go to kino@rana.kommune.no.
